I'm really pleased to see the interviews with Malcolm Gladwell and David Brailer that went live on Ideaworks earlier today.
Not just because it was great to have such high profile speakers at the event, but because they both articulated a growing consensus about innovation in healthcare. They both have strong views about the way that this challenge needs to be framed, or explained to clinicians, policy makers and patients. But at the same time, they aren't afraid of acknowledging the effort and time that will be required to establish a modern healthcare sector that meets the needs of citizens in the 21st century.
Time and time again, I heard this view expressed in the conference hall, and between sessions chatting informally with colleagues. But facing up to the truth gives us fresh confidence. No false dawns, no false hopes. We're in for the long haul, and we're ready to see it through. Now all we need to do is make sure that we get everyone to join us on this journey.
