All discussions are open to any viewer but to start a new topic, or to comment upon an existing topic you need to become a member – it is free to register.

Once you have become a member you can follow discussions with automatic alerts via RSS or email whenever new topics or new comments are added.

At the Ideaworks Symposium we asked delegates what topic areas they would value further discussion around. To start the conversation at the Ideas forum we have created a number of discussion threads directly from topics proposed by delegates.

Tips & hints

To start a debate it is worth framing your topic carefully and proposing a clearly defined idea or taking a definite position on the topic for discussion by members. Make sure you ask a question, not just make a statement.

- Which areas of innovation are most important to you?
If Ideaworks is all about advancing healthcare technology, then it is important we understand which areas of healthcare innovation you think are the most important, most relevant and most beneficial for the investment of time and energy.

Today my Clinical Innovation team has three areas of focus:
- Human machine interaction
- Access to information (including the semantic web and interoperability)
- Personal healthcare (including the implications of the human genome)
Are these the right ones?

At the recent Ideaworks Symposium I asked delegates to put forward the areas they considered important using an interactive voting system. Suggestions included:
- Technology strategy
- Interoperability
- Medical education
- Privacy & security: how can innovation help?
- Change management
- Implications of Cloud services
- Issues that patient centric care raises for health IT
- The impact of social technologies on patients and professionals in healthcare
- Benefits realisation and achieving better patient outcomes
- What can we learn from open source approaches to knowledge sharing
